I hate making decisions

I have a lot of changes going on in my life and just to add to the craziness I really want to host a foreign exchange student for the upcoming school year. When I first heard of the idea, my eyes lit up and I wanted to jump at the opportunity. After considering all the costs and getting feedback from others, I am not receiving the reactions I was hoping for. It is really hard for me to make a decision when others aren't as gung ho as I am about it. Do I take every one's opinion and like always and give in? Or do I say "hey, this is something I want to do" and go for it? This is how I am ALL the time. I can't make decisions for the fear of what other people will say/do. Put yourself in my shoes...what would you do?

Well, you know what I would do! That would be totally awesome. In my opinion, you and Noah are strong Christians with a beautiful family. You are mature in wisdom, yet young at heart. I am sure an exchange student would love being a part of your family. Not to mention, you are SOOOO maternal, if anyone could make a student who is away from their home feel like family, it would be you. How does Noah feel about it? Ultimately, it is up to you and him. You are in charge of your family. No one else. Pray, woman, pray!!! ;) I love you!

I think it is important to seek advice from mentors and people who are in a position of authority in your life. Proverbs 15 says "Plans fail for lack of godly counsel". I usually have the opposite problem, I make decisions and don't consult anyone..this leads to a lot of hasty choices, broken relationships, and messy consequences. One thing I am learning to do is to value other's opinions. Erik and I each have one or two mentors that we go to when difficult decisions are needing to be made. I once had a friend look at me and in all love and sincerity she said "You need some counseling."...she was right. I wasn't hurt by her response because I knew she loved me.

I don't know who you are asking, but chances are they love you and want the best for you. Sometimes third parties cans see things we can't see.

I have only heard about a few foreign exchange student situations, and sadly, none of them are particularly good. That doesn't mean your experience would follow suit, but it may help to speak to people that are for it and those that oppose. Talk all into consideration, pray about it, and seek godly counsel.

like a baby, you ask for suggestions, but ultimately do what is best for you, Noah, and Wyatt. And just because you may say no now, doesn't mean you can't ever do it.

ah <3 It's an amazing idea. I think you should do it, despite what everyone else says. After all, its not their call on what you wanna do. They wouldn't be the ones living in the house, etc.

I would say go for it! Remember Caroline! They come to school shy and not sure of what to do but then they meet great people (like you!!!) and fall in love with being there and go home crying because they wish they could stay! Since your first reaction was being really excited, thats what your heart was saying to you. Best of luck to you with whatever you may do =)
